Helping to build a successful community is part of Wayne State University's urban mission. Lending helpful hands to uplift those in need is a critical building block. Wayne Cares is a university outreach initiative that brings together the university community for the purpose of charitable giving. Its primary goal is to help university units work together and collaborate with each other for the good of the community.

The Office of Government and Community Affairs has collaborated with iStart for New Student Days. iStart is a mandatory three-day program for all incoming freshman students, beginning with Convocation and concluding with Warrior Service Day, when students will connect with their peers and experience teambuilding activities, academic seminars and community service.

This year's event will be on Monday, August 30, 2010
