The University's 2008 Combined Charitable Contributions Campaign ran from October 30, 2007 through the end of November. Frank Wu (who at the time of campaign was the dean of the university's Law School) chaired the 2008 campaign.

New for the 2008 campaign was the "e-Way" donation system for giving to United Way and Black United Fund. The web-based system allowed for continued donation by payroll deduction and also permitted donation by check, PayPal, stocks and billed invoicing. United Way research into local giving partners currently using the e-Way system confirmed participation in e-Way showed significant increases over time in giving.

Wayne State employees pledged or contributed over $119,000.00.
