Wayne Cares: Food Drive 2010
Thank you to everyone who donated food items and volunteered their time for Wayne State University's inaugural food drive in partnership with AARP and Forgotten Harvest.
We are happy to report that more than 300 families received full totes of canned and non-perishable food as well as a turkey in time for Thanksgiving week. Thanks to the generosity of Wayne State faculty, staff and students, and the neighborhood community, we collected more than 17,000 pounds of food for families in need!
Helping to build a successful community is part of Wayne State University's urban mission. Lending helpful hands to uplift those in need is a critical building block. Wayne Cares is a university outreach initiative that brings together the university community for the purpose of charitable giving. Its primary goal is to help university units work together and collaborate with each other for the good of the community.
